Race Relations in America 2015

All are welcome to join this discussion group based on the book Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

At the 2015 Unitarian Universalist Midwest Conference and the 2015 General Assembly, an emphasis was placed on the need to have dialogue regarding race relations in 2015. Between the World and Me may provide an opportunity for an exchange of ideas gleaned from this reading. This workshop will support the UU principles of the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equality and compassion in human relations; acceptance of one another; a search for truth and meaning; exploring the democratic process within our society; examining peace, liberty and justice for all and respecting the interdependent web of all existence.

The class will be facilitated by Alice Ocrey. Books are available for purchase at Ex-Libris or any local bookstore; we also have a few copies that can be borrowed. To sign up for the class, please email This is a two part class from 7-9 p.m. at 805 South Boulevard (our administrative offices).
