Meditation, Mindfulness, Buddhism and UUs

Contemporary Buddhism is not a belief. It is a process of investigating how our minds work and an opportunity to uncover unique habitual patterns of reactivity that have developed over our lifetimes. Explore how to create a spaciousness from which we can choose to live our lives with less reactivity and with more skill.

Through lecture, small group discussions and meditation practice we’ll explore the core teachings of of Siddhartha Gautama (known as the Buddha) in light of recent scholarship. These concepts give a broader context from which you will explore the workings of your mind. You’ll be encouraged to look at these concepts from a skeptical point of view and decide for yourself if they assist you in living a more skillful and fulfilled life. The course has been updated based upon feedback from the last three classes Terry has facilitated. High school aged youth are welcome. Locations: Gale House, Sundays from 1:30 to 3:45 Jan. 22-Feb. 26th 2017.
