Earth Hour
The Green Sanctuary Committee invites you to participate in "Earth Hour" on Saturday, March 29, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. This global event, organized by the World Wildlife Fund, encourages governments, businesses, and residents in major cities worldwide to turn off the lights and unplug unnecessary appliances for these 60 minutes. Chicago has been chosen as the U.S. flagship city for this event. The goal of Earth Hour is to get people thinking'and to let them know they are not alone. Use the hour to reduce your carbon footprint in a more lasting way: replacing incandescent light bulbs with CFL bulbs, or plugging small appliances into power strips for easy turn-off when not in use. Talk with family during this time about the importance of responding to climate change...then make your own plan of action.
UNCOUNTED: The new math of American Elections
This explosive new documentary by filmmaker David Earnhardt that shows how the election fraud that changed the outcome of the 2004 election led to even greater fraud in 2006-and now looms as an unbridled threat to the outcome of the 2008 election. In factual, logical and yet startling terms the film exposes how easy it is to change election outcomes and undermine election integrity across the U.S. Besides the long lines, voter caging, deceptive practices, voter intimidation, and malfunctioning electronic voting machines, "Uncounted" shares well documented stories about widespread disregard for the right to vote. Showing will occur on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Veterans Room at Oak Park Library.
Used Book Sale
Sunday, April 6 from 9:00 to 1:00 is the wildly popular ExLibris Used Book Faire. Your donations - books, DVDs, etc.- can be brought to UT after March 16. (No text books or encyclopedias, please.) Go green on the day of the sale - bring your own bag, if you can, to carry off your treasures.

3rd Saturday Coffeehouse
Some people don't believe a haiku is a real poem. 3rd Saturday Coffeehouse Open Mic welcomes Charlie Trumbull on Saturday, April 19, who will demonstrate why this is a valid question! He will read his own haiku, as well as
some written by others, and relate them to the historic evolution, poetics, aesthetics, and philosophy of haiku.
Trumbull has served as president of the Haiku Society of America, is a founder of Chi-ku, the Chicago-area haiku club, and is the proprietor of Deep North Press, a publisher of haiku books.
Join us at Unity Temple--7:30 sign up, 8 pm Open Mic, 9 pm featured performer. Open Mic is limited to 5 minutes. We are acoustic--no equipment provided. $3-$5 donation.

Welcoming Ceremony and Celebration
At both services on April 20th, UTUUC will formally welcome new members who have recently completed Pathway to Membership classes and have signed our Membership Book. Mark Robinson, of the Membership Committee, is coordinator for Welcoming Ceremonies. We ask that new members attend both services, if possible, as this is an opportunity for the congregation to put names and faces together and to greet our newest members. (Feel free to leave following the welcoming ceremony at second service.) Beginning at 4:30 p.m., on April 20th, the Membership Committee will host a social hour in Unity House, followed by a dinner for new members, their guests and our congregation. Please join us. Your presence will add to the festivities of welcoming. Free childcare is available. Contact Dawn Edmiston, Childcare Coordinator, childcare@unitytemple.org (preferred) or 708/209-1829. Please try to schedule these arrangements one week in advance.
