Seeing White Book Discussion Group
Seeing White: An Introduction to White Privilege and Race Book Discussion Group
This book, written by a sociologist, a psychologist, and an economist, is an interdisciplinary text designed to introduce whiteness and white privilege and encourages discussion about the topics of race and privilege. We will start with the first chapter "The Invisibility of Whiteness" and then continue with chapters/sections of interest to the group. Members of all racial identities are welcome.
A priority of the group will be to make this a safe space for discussion of everyone's experiences. This does not mean that discussions will always be easy or comfortable. Participants should be open to learning new things about themselves! Discussion facilitated by Elizabeth Freeland, UTUUC member. Register at [email protected] Some copies of the book are available to borrow from Rev. Emily or buy at Ex-Libris.
Six Sunday afternoons: Jan 31 - March 6th (4pm - 5:30pm) at 805 South Blvd (UTUUC administrative offices)
